The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society honors the memory and celebrates the life and work of the author of such widely-read and respected books as the 1939 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Yearling and the 1942 nonfiction classic Cross Creek.
The Society was founded in 1987 by Mr. Phil May, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, to encourage study of, critical attention to, and general interest in the work, career, and legacy of Rawlings, as well as to facilitate a broader discussion -- among scholars, critics, teachers, students, and readers everywhere -- of writers who have taken the South as their subject.
The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society welcomes you to our website, and we cordially invite you to apply for membership. |
